Before you jump to Vickys Giant Gingerbread Men, GF DF EF SF NF recipe, you may want to read this short interesting healthy tips about The Simple Ways to Be Healthy.

Everybody knows that in order to truly be healthy you need to eat a nutritious and balanced diet and get a proper level of exercise. However, we do not always have the time or the energy that this type of lifestyle demands. Going to the gym isn’t something people make time for when they get off from work. A delicious, grease laden burger is usually our food of choice and not a leafy green salad (unless we are vegetarians). The good news is that making wise decisions doesn’t have to be a pain. If you keep going with it, you’ll get all of the required foods and activites. Here are some ideas to be as healthy as possible.

Consider the stairs. Rather than riding an elevator, walk up the stairs to the floor you live or work on. Obviously this isn’t as possible if you work on the 25th floor of a high rise, but if you work on the fourth, climbing the stairs is a great way to get some exercise in. Even if you do live or work on one of the top floors, you can still get off of the elevator early and climb up the stairs the rest of the way. Lots of people choose the easy elevator ride instead of making an effort on the stairs. Even if you only have a single flight to climb, climbing along it during the day is a great way to get additional exercise.

There are all kinds of things that you can do to get healthy. Not all of them demand fancy gym memberships or limited diets. Little things, when done every single day, can do plenty to make it easier to get healthy and lose pounds. Being smart when you choose your food and actions is where it begins. A good amount of physical activity each day is also important. The numbers on the scale aren’t the only signal of your healthfulness. You need to make your body as strong as possible.

  1. Use 80 grams soft brown sugar
  2. You need 100 grams sunflower spread / softened butter
  3. Provide 60 grams golden syrup
  4. Provide 225 grams plain / gluten free flour blend
  5. Take 1/4 tsp xanthan gum if using a gluten-free flour blend
  6. You need 1 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  7. Use 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  8. Get 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg or mixed spice
  9. Prepare 1/2 tsp baking powder
Steps to make Vickys Giant Gingerbread Men, GF DF EF SF NF:
  1. Use my size guide picture below to draw a gingerbread man shape on a piece of parchment paper. Cut it out and set aside……..
  2. I made a centre line 12.5 inches tall and divided it into 4 sections. The head section is 3.5 inches long and the other 3 are all 3 inches. I made the hands tip to tip 9 inches apart so from the centre line to the end of each hand is 4.5 inches. I used a coffee mug as a guide to draw the hands and feet circles and eyeballed the rest. You could perhaps print my pic and blow it up to trace it
  3. Cream together the butter and sugar, good exercise for the kids lol
  4. Mix in the golden syrup (you can use 40g corn syrup plus 20g treacle if you can't get or don't have time to make golden syrup but the flavour will be a lot flatter so you'll need to add extra spice to compensate) - - https://cookpad.com/us/recipes/334096-vickys-homemade-golden-syrup-like-tate-lyles-gf-df-ef-sf-nf
  5. Mix the xanthan gum and baking powder into the flour then add the flour and spices to the creamed mixture
  6. Form a soft dough. If using a gluten free flour blend you may need extra flour, just add more accordingly. You may also like to add a half tsp vanilla extract
  7. Knead it smooth then put the dough on top of a sheet of parchment paper and start to pat it out into an oval or rectangular shape
  8. Place another sheet of parchment paper on top then roll out so it's 1cm thick. It should be a little bit bigger than the 12.5"x 9" gingerbread man template
  9. Slide the parchment paper and dough onto a baking sheet and chill flat in the fridge for 30 minutes
  10. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to gas 5 / 190C / 375°F
  11. Slide the dough with parchment still underneath off of the baking sheet and put on top of a cutting board. Take the top layer of parchment paper off. Put the template you cut out over the chilled dough. Cut around it with a sharp knife, removing the excess. Set that aside for later, you can re-roll it and cut smaller cookies from it, just bake for 6 minutes at the same temperature or freeze it for another day
  12. Move the gingerbread man back to the baking sheet using the parchment underneath to lift it and line the sheet at the same time
  13. Bake for 15 minutes then let cool completely on the baking sheet
  14. When cooled, decorate as you like with piped icing, sweets, raisins, chocolate chips etc
  15. To give as a gift, cut another template out of card to use as a backing board so the cookie can be supported and carried easily and place in a large cellophane bag tied with a festive bow
  16. This recipe makes 1 giant gingerbread man with enough dough left over for 2 normal sized ones
  17. You can make a big reindeer or snowman like these in the recipe linked below that I did last year, with a small amendment to the template - leave off the santa hat lol - - https://cookpad.com/us/recipes/339451-vickys-gingerbread-snowmen-reindeer-decorating-idea
  18. …and this recipe link includes directions for the stained glass cookies I mentioned in my review - - https://cookpad.com/us/recipes/333250-vickys-gingerbread-men-christmas-halloween-ideas-gf-df-ef-sf
